what up wednesdays

just a few things I’ve been up to lately…..

I’m celebrating my birthday all week, so I’ve been a little busy…
1. Friday was a “happy hour” at my parents house with my sister and brother-in-law. Dark rum and coke was the drink du jour. My dad made homemade Italian beef sandwiches and my mom made the most delicious cupcakes, some regular size and some mini ones. Chocolate with chocolate icing and gingerbread with cream cheese icing. We absolutely devoured them.
2. Saturday Mikey took me out to dinner at a local Italian restaurant that I have been dying to try for a few years. They make their pasta on site and at the end of the meal they give you a shot of limoncello and an amaretti cookie. We were too full to even try dessert but I hear their Tiramisu is awesome.
3. Party animals that we are, we were home fairly early. We were going to find a good movie to watch on TV but I picked up a book my mom gave me and I couldn’t put it down. Literally, just wanted to finish it that night. It’s called Tempting Fate: A Novel by Jane Green. And all I can say is please do not under any circumstance read the ending. One review(Kirkus Reviews) called it “the Scarlet Letter for the 21st century.”
4. Sunday I made my pot roast nachos with shrimp and goat cheese queso. After throwing the pot roast in the crockpot early, I sat outside in the beautiful 75 degree October weather reading the above mentioned book.
5. My plans with a friend I haven’t seen in months fell through for today but tomorrow I’m going with my girls Trixie and Elaine who turned 40+1 to see “Girl on a Train” and cocktails afterward. I CANNOT WAIT!!!!
6. TV talk- ok so I know I said I’m over The Walking Dead but of course I’m still going to watch it. So there I was Sunday night, getting all prepared to turn it on and then I find out that it starts next week instead. I’m all like what the???? I was kind of pissed and really confused because I could have sworn season 7 started the day after my birthday. Somewhere along the line, they changed it on me. I’m not insane either because last night a work, some friends I hadn’t seen in months, said the exact same thing. They were just as confused and pissed as I was.
