An oldie but a goodie. And made with fresh squeezed orange juice.
And because some days you just need tequila. Especially Mondays. So instead of a margarita, I kept it so very simple. And loaded with vitamin C.
I’ve mentioned before how good fresh squeezed orange juice is, like when I made this amaretto with fresh squeezed oj. But I just cannot stress it enough how much of a difference fresh squeezed makes vs store bought oj. Fresh squeezed is sweeter and seems less acidic which just changes the whole flavor of any drink I make with it. Seriously, you gotta try it!
The trick of this drink is to not mix it. Pour the grenadine in last and let it settle on the bottom of the glass.
Tequila sunrise
2 oz silver tequila
1 cup fresh squeezed orange juice (approx. 5 oranges, depending on size)
1 oz grenadine
In a glass with ice, pour in tequila, then top with orange juice. Slowly pour in grenadine and let it settle on the bottom. Do not stir.
This drink was very popular in the 1970’s. I think we should bring it back in style because it looks very ombre which is very much in style right now.
