I’ve been talking all week non stop about breakfast. I mentioned my breakfast in bed twice. Here and here. Then I talked about breakfast in Mexico here. So I decided to make us a breakfast shot. Optional to have it in bed. Or you could wait until noon and call it brunch. There’s actually 2 different shots here.
One is the breakfast shot with bacon that you chase with orange juice and the other is the cinnamon toast crunch shot. The breakfast shot was popular for a minute at my
shithole dive bar where I work. Minus the bacon. Although it probably would have been a mega hit if I could have served it with a slice of bacon.
The breakfast shot tastes like pancakes with syrup. It’s really kind of crazy. Then you can eat the bacon and chase it with orange juice and that’s what I call a real breakfast of champions. The breakfast shot usually calls for Jameson whiskey although I’ve seen it made with Crown Royal Maple too. Any whiskey could work but the Jameson has a really smooth taste that blends well with the butterscotch schnapps to give it that pancakes with syrup flavor. Actually I should say any Irish whiskey would work well in this shot.
The cinnamon toast crunch shot is cinnamon rum cream and cinnamon whiskey. Tastes just like the milk at the bottom of the bowl after you eat cinnamon toast crunch cereal. Actually cinnamon rum cream tastes like that on it’s own but a little more milder.
The breakfast shot
1/2 oz whiskey (preferably Jameson)
1/2 oz butterscotch schnapps
2 oz orange juice
Combine whiskey and schnapps in a glass and drink. Follow immediately with orange juice.
Cinnamon toast crunch shot
1/2 oz cinnamon whiskey (I used Fireball)
1 oz cinnamon rum cream (preferably chilled)
Combine in a shot glass.
